Terms of Service

Effective October 10, 2026

Overview

The Album App is a collaborative music organization tool for songwriters, producers, and bands. It's run by The Album App LLC, a limited liability company in the USA ("we", "us").

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the app, its share pages, or this website. By using them, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. For how we handle your data, check out our Privacy Policy.

Your account

The app isn't for children under 13 (without a parent's verified consent, we're not allowed to store your email for an account, sorry).

You're responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has gotten access to it.

Your content

You own your music. Everything you put in the app—audio, lyrics, notes, art, and files—stays yours. We don't claim any ownership of it.

What you let us do with it. So the app can work, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, copy, and process your content (for example, to draw waveforms, detect key and tempo, or make smaller copies for mobile storage), and to play or show it—only to you and to the people you share it with, and as needed to run, secure, and back up the app. This permission ends when you delete the content, apart from backup copies kept for a . We don't sell your content or use it for advertising, and we don't feed it into training data for LLMs (unlike some companies, cough cough).

Shared projects. When you add something to a project other people are in, its members can see it and, depending on their role, play, download, modify, or move it. If you leave a project or delete your account, content you added remains in that project. A project's files count toward its owner's storage, including what other members add.

Your responsibility. Only upload what you have the right to—including the rights of any co-writers, performers, producers, labels, or publishers involved. Always keep backups of your files; we work hard to keep your content safe, but no service can promise it will never be lost.

Share pages

A share page can be opened by anyone who has its link (and its password, if you set one), with or without an account. They can play what's on it, download it where you allow that, and pass the link on. Only put on a share page what you're happy for anyone with the link to hear and see. You can deactivate a share page or delete it at any time, but copies people have already downloaded are out of our hands.

With an Encore plan, you can choose your share pages' URLs (thealbum.app/s/your-album) and connect your own domain. A domain must be one you own or control. We may revoke a name that impersonates someone, uses someone else's trademark, or misleads people.

Acceptable use

Don't use the app to:

  • Upload or share anything you don't have the rights to, or that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, or other rights
  • Upload or share anything illegal, or that harasses, threatens, or exploits anyone
  • Send spam, phishing, or malware, or mislead people about who you are
  • Store or hand out files that have nothing to do with your music, as general file hosting
  • Get into accounts or data that aren't yours, test or break our security, or disrupt the app for others
  • Scrape, overload, copy, or resell the app, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows

Copyright

We respect the rights of songwriters and artists, and expect you to. If you believe something in the app infringes your copyright, our Copyright Policy explains how to tell us. We remove infringing material, and we close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.

Plans and payments

Free. 1 GB of storage and 3 projects you own. Projects other people share with you don't count toward either.

Encore. $49 a year, billed yearly. In the US, sales tax is added where it applies; elsewhere, tax is included in the price shown at checkout. Encore includes unlimited storage (subject to the fair-use limit below), unlimited projects, downloads from your share pages, your own share page names, and custom domains for share pages. See Pricing.

Fair use. Unlimited storage means you won't run into a storage limit using the app for your music. It's subject to a fair-use limit of 250 GB per account; if you go past it, we'll get in touch before anything changes.

Paddle. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Your purchase is a contract with Paddle under Paddle's Buyer Terms; these terms cover your use of the app itself.

Renewal. Encore renews automatically each year, charged to the payment method you used, until you cancel. If the price changes, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal.

Cancelling. Cancel any time from your Paddle receipt or paddle.net, or by emailing us. You keep Encore until the end of the year you've paid for; then your account moves to the free plan.

Refunds

  • Within 14 days of a purchase or a renewal, you can have a full refund—no questions asked.
  • After 14 days, payments aren't refundable, except where the law requires a refund.
  • To ask for one, email [email protected], or use the link in your Paddle receipt or paddle.net. Paddle returns the money to the way you paid.
  • If the consumer law where you live gives you more rights, those apply.

If you stop paying

A renewal that fails. You keep everything for 14 days while you update your payment details. Nothing is locked in that time.

Back on the free plan. After that, or when a cancelled plan's year ends, your account moves to the free plan. Anything over its limits—projects beyond the 3 you own, storage beyond 1 GB—is locked, not deleted: it's kept, and you can still play and download it, but you can't change it, share it, or add to it. The newest things lock first.

90 days. Pay again, or make room, within 60 days and everything comes back as it was. After 60 days, what's still locked moves to the trash, and 30 days after that it's deleted for good. We email you before each step. Projects other people own aren't affected.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings › You › Delete account. Projects only you are in are deleted with it. If you're on Encore, cancel your plan too.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms—for example, repeated copyright infringement or abuse of other people—or where the law requires it. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right or download your content. If we close your account when you haven't broken these terms, or stop running the app altogether, we'll give you at least 30 days to download your content and refund the unused part of a paid year.

The app is provided as is

We build The Album App with care, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied—including that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that content will never be lost—and we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the greater of what you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.

If someone makes a claim against us because of content you uploaded or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from it.

Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in New Mexico, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away protections the law where you live gives you. Before bringing a claim, please email us—most problems can be sorted out that way.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't want to, you can cancel your plan and delete your account.

General

These terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Copyright Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the app; Paddle's Buyer Terms cover purchases. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to. We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over the app; you can't transfer them without our agreement.
